An antique 1920's campaign style high top French banded steamer trunk. In pine and ply with highly polished brassware including brass studded beech bandings, brass reinforced corners and interlocking lid catches, large brass studs to both ends for transportation and working central brass lock with key. With original chocolate brown leather handles in brass keepers, 2 up and over steel clasps and featuring full authentic interior.
Carefully refurbished and wax polished. This came to us semi-restored with the canvas having previously been removed and the trunk treated for woodworm. Featuring knots and quirks, grains, textures and tones for a rustic, tactile finish. Interior cleaned and conserved retaining original fabric lining including removeable top tray with fabric strapping and handles and 2 sliding metal lid stays.
DIMENSIONS (cm): L 69 x H 42.5 x D 50
NOTABLE QUIRKS: Some marks and discolouration to fabric interior predominantly to base, commensurate with age. Old woodworm holes and channels to beech bandings, treated by previous owner. Leather handles have some wear, layers are coming apart but still strong. A few fabric remnants to exterior. Shrinkage gaps. Heavy wear to ply in one of exterior base sections, upper layer of ply has pieces missing (photo can be supplied on request).

All our items are hand finished in several coats of a quality wax polish. A wax finish naturally enhances the wood and revives and protects the original patina, however it doesn't have the same protection as a lacquered finish (the type you may find on shop bought furniture). So to keep your item in tip top condition it's advised to wax it periodically depending on the wear and tear it receives, the suggestion for a coffee table is twice a month. Only the top need be done with a clear wax according to the instructions on the product used. You may also wish to wax the whole piece every 6-12 months to maintain the finish. This will feed, hydrate and protect the wood, maintain the depth of colour and help your furniture to stay looking great!
